Trailer: I Give It a Year (2013)

Added: November 27, 2012

It’s funny that I get to see this trailer now that I only have two weeks away before my wedding. I’m not bluffing. Normally, we encounter wedding movies about the planning process that screws up, the best friend who is in love with the groom or in the case of Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn, they crashed a wedding. But rarely do we see plots that talk about what happen next after the wedding.

Well, the Brits are going to give a little of that through and upcoming comedy, I Give It a Year. It is written and directed by Dan Mazer, the guy behind Sacha Baron Cohen’s Bruno and Da Ali G Show. This British comedy focuses literally on the first year of marriage. The cast includes mix of American and British actors like Anna Faris, Olivia Colman, Rose Byrne, Simon Baker, Rafe Spall, Minnie Driver and Merchant.

Upon watching the trailer, the theme is actually circling mostly on the awkward moments that couple might encounter during the first year of marriage. But of course, I Give It A Year will show the extremes – Messing up the travel photos with doggie style photo, who does that really?

But, what strikes me most is Rafe Spall who I find really adorable on this film. I first saw him in One Day, who plays a very awkward looking boyfriend of Anne Hathaway. And then, he became part of Ridley Scott’s Prometheus – and still playing a very awkward looking nerd. I didn’t know that he is this handsome, but still awkward though.

I Give It a Year has its UK release February 8, 2013, a very suitable Valentine’s Day movie.
