The story of Jeff Buckley is heartbreaking. Although, his father, the singer-songwriter Tim Buckley also went through the same tragedy that a famous musician would have, Jeff however showed an remarkable amount of promise as a musician himself, cutting a studio album with Columbia Records, but saw his life tragically cut short at the age of 30 when he accidentally drowned in the Wolf River. Since his death, there have been many posthumous releases of his material, including a collection of four-track demos and studio recordings for his unfinished second album My Sweetheart the Drunk and expansions of debut album Grace and his Live at Sin-é EP. He will also be remember for his cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah,” and now a film has been made to commemorate his memory too.
Naked in New York and People I Know director Daniel Algrant directed and co-written the biopic film, Greetings from Tim Buckley, which will demonstrate how Jeff Buckley some unforgettable moments that the kid has shared with his father by leading up to and concluding with his legendary 1991 performance of his father's songs which helped launch his career. The film has premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last month, and Imogen Poots, William Sadler and Ben Rosenfield join Penn Badgley on this film.
